Nicola Stockley

Born in Swanage, UK

British based artist.

I am an explorer.

Through my interests in the natural world and the surreal I create illustrations and picture books that travel through extraordinary landscapes and encounter fantastical plants and creatures on the way. For me drawing is at the centre of daily life as well generating concepts and ideas for new projects, it gives me a freedom to work fluently and originally. Drawing underpins every illustrative project I undertake. With a BA in Fine Art and an MA in illustration, my practice has a balance between traditional and digital mediums and styles making me versatile in todays competitive industry whilst maintaining my artistic voice.

As well as working as a Fine artist in drawing, I design my own fabrics and create my own bespoke, handmade products. I am currently a resident artist in Purbeck New Wave Gallery in Swanage.

Teaching is another passion of mine, I believe anyone can learn to draw and paint, I started Purbeck and Poole painters to teach beginner/ improver art classes providing students with all the materials and guidance they need to learn about different artistic mediums and have a lot of fun at the same time!
